This planet is a very strange place, even if it is the only world we've consciously known. A lot of things are overlooked here, and not small things either. A large majority of the western world overlook the rest of the planet even if there are people dying of hunger and disease a short distance away. This tells us that as a species we are selfish. A lot of the time this selfishness affects people with Anxiety or Stress disorders because people don't seem to want to give them the time of day. I know several people who have gone out and seeked help only to be prescribed medicine not fit for purpose or quite literally turned away because from a physical perspective they are healthy when that wasn't the case at all. What's the point in having such a splendid physical body when the mind is locked in a state of fear and can't use it. It is like having a brand new Ferrari and no driving license.... Pointless.

This page is really just to ask you not to feel resentment against the doctor that turned you away, not to feel resentment against your family for not understanding you, not to feel resentment against the work colleauges that thought you were taking that time off for no reason whatsoever. In order to get over something you need to forgive those originally involved. Try to understand them otherwise you are no better. I feel pity for a lot of those people for not being as open minded to the world and to people as someone like yourself.

So once again think of anybody that has ever caused you any stress and fueled your anxiousness. Try and think of one of those incidents where something has caused you to panic and feel anxious.

Don't just make one up! Once again there are no time constraints here.

Once you have an event in your mind take a few moments to run through the whole event from start to finish. take a few moments to really go back to that time. A time when you really felt anxious, feel your heart pounding away in your chest.

Feel your hands go all clammy.

The blood flow in your body increase.

Try and picture all of the symptoms specific to you arise one by one.

Close your eyes if it helps.

(Take a few minutes here before continuing)

Now picture the page of that memory turning away like a book, you are getting further and further away from the page full of these emotions until suddenly the book slams shut. And it's over!

Try and remember what colour the back of the book was

Now take a few deep breaths and Relax!

Really Relax!!!

The feelings you felt then were typical of one of your panic attacks, and you controlled it each step of the way. Step by step you managed to realease all of those chemicals throughout your body.

Well done!

So if you can do it in one direction, then you can quite easily do it the other way round. This is a really good exercise to do. If you felt that event was successful then keep it as a tool in your minds toolbox. If your mind doesn't have a toolbox then make one. Try and reserve a little piece of your mind for all of your tools to go in to as you pick them up through life. The best thing you can do with the experiment above is rewind it. Start at the end of your panic attack and picture it reversing like a Video. As it rewinds all of the physical symptoms will ease off until they are irrevelant. The slamming of the book will get louder and more powerful each time. The great thing about this exercise is the more you do it, the more it works.

Carry on when you feel ready!
